OUR OBJECTIVES

  • learn

Train bilingual and multicultural mental health practitioners to be socially, culturally, and linguistically responsive bilingual and multicultural mental health providers.

  • community

Foster a professional network with bilingual and multicultural service providers and scholars dedicated to serving Latinx populations locally and nationwide.

  • advocate

Advocate for the wider participation of Latinx and Spanish-speaking individuals in the socioeconomic, cultural and political sectors of society.

our cause

To help meet the needs of the Latinx population, mental health professionals must receive high quality bilingual and multicultural training. Our training program strives to advance the mental health of an underserved Latine community.

Researchers have highlighted the limited empirical work in the area of bilingual and multicultural training, and the need for training programs that can help enhance the well-being of Latine and Spanish-Speaking clients. Unfortunately, many bilingual professionals already working in the field report that they did not receive adequate training, education, consultation and supervision opportunities to provide adequate bilingual/bicultural services. Mental health providers must receive high quality culturally and linguistically training to support their Latinx clients.
